I just wanted to add my voice to the thousands upon thousands of others sending my love and support to the victims of the Martin Place Siege in Sydney. I cannot imagine what you are going through, but please know Australia is behind you.
To the two beautiful people who had their lives taken too soon, rest in peace. I send my love to their families and friends, your pain is shared by everyone.
To my Muslim brothers and sisters, I want you to know that most Australians know you are not to blame in the slightest. I will always defend your right to practice your religion in peace, and I know that Islam is not represented by the actions of extremists. I pray that peace will prevail in the coming weeks.
To the NSW Police Force, NSW Ambulance Service and NSW Fire and Rescue, thank you for keeping us safe every day. You do a wonderful job and I for one am grateful.
I am horrified that something so terrible could happen in my city, in a place I know so well. It’s a sad and terrifying prospect that a sick, sad excuse for a human being could cause so much pain in our beautiful city.
We may be shocked and appalled by what happened over the last two days, but Australia is strong. We will always come together. We are not defeated in the slightest. Don’t let the bad guys win.
