The very wonderful A Kernel of Nonsense did this tag and I, being a mad Potter fan, could not let this one drop. I’m not tagged, but since when did that stop anyone? This is originally from Underland to Wonderland, who has tagged all Potterheads! So I guess I am tagged after all (feeling the love now!)
1. What is your favorite book?
Hands down, The Prisoner of Azkaban. No competition whatsoever- the third book is my favourite. It introduces Lupin and Sirius, there’s an amazing storyline, it delves into everything I love about that world… it’s just the best.
Did I mention Lupin and Sirius?
2. What is your favourite film?
Hmmmmmmmm. This is harder, as I think they’re all quite good in their own ways, even if they didn’t remain faithful to the storyline. Probably Deathly Hallows part 1 + 2. I think they were really well done.
3. What is your least favourite book?
I love all of them, so picking a least favourite is a bit difficult. I don’t like The Chamber of Secrets because I feel it’s a bit of a weak link, but there are important aspects to it, like beginning to show the corruption in the Ministry and how magic can be abused. I also don’t like The Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix as much as the others because Harry is such a moody little bitch in them- but then again, he’s 15, pretty accurate for that age. I remember reading it when I was 10 or 11 and thinking “Oh my goodness, is this what it’s like to be a teenager?”
4. What is your least favourite film?
I’m still upset by the cutting of a lot of Sirius’ involvement in the 4th and 5th movies. The cutting of loads out of those movies actually annoys me a lot- I get that they’re big books but some of it wasn’t inconsequential! Rowling never does things without them becoming important!
5. Parts of the books/ films that make you cry.
Ohhhhh…. all the tears when Sirius dies. And Lupin + Tonks.
AND FRED OMG FRED NO.
DOBBY. Nothing more needs to be said.
Or when Fred thinks George is dead. Gets me every time.
Surprisingly didn’t get all that upset during many of the other deaths. I was just so attached to these characters.
In the movies, I cry when Mr Diggory discovers that Cedric is dead. Like actual hysterical tears… Amazing bit of acting.
When Harry discovers Neville’s parents are in St Mungos has always upset me too. Poor Neville, I just want to hug him.
7. Who is your favourite character?
Snape. So many levels of awesome.
I love anyone who takes Harry down a notch when he needs it.
8. Who is your least favourite character?
Dolores Umbridge. She makes my skin crawl.
Even standing next to the props and costumes relating to her at the Harry Potter exhibition in London made me feel icky. If I could pick a character to personally murder, it would be her.
Then there’s always Rita Skeeter, Filch, Greyback and Bellatrix Lestrange (who also made me cringe standing next to her costume).
9. What is your least favourite line?
Unfortunately, Snape delivered my least favourite line. I wanted to slap him.
“I see no difference”
As someone who has been bullied for my looks by my peers, having something like that said to her by a teacher just broke my heart for Hermione. Never mind that she’s the smartest girl in the school, they all felt the need to pick on the poor girl’s teeth.
Also thought it was a bit rich coming from he-who-needs-a-shampoo.
10. What would your patronus be?
Ah, the eternal question. I think mine would be an otter or a puffin, as I love otters and puffins. I wouldn’t say no to a bilby patronus either, come to think of it.
Can’t you just imagine this little guy fending off Dementors? I’m feeling happier just thinking about it!
11. If you could have the Resurrection Stone, Invisibility Cloak or Elder Wand, which would it be?
This answer is so obvious that it kind of hurts.
12. Which house would you be in?
Always a Ravenclaw.
I even have my Ravenclaw guernsey and scarf. REPRESENT!
13. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
Ooooh I think I’d go for Helena Bonham Carter- I hate her character but she does her so well. She’s also an amazing actress in general. I’ve never seen her in a role where she went badly!
Can I pick Dame Maggie Smith too? Coz I adore her.
14. If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?
I wouldn’t play Quidditch at all, if I’m being realistic. I don’t do sport. I’m happy to watch though!!
15. Were you happy with the ending?
Yes, I was. I may not have liked certain aspects of the ending but I understand why they happened. I have no issue with characters dying- seriously, how could it be a wizarding war with no deaths?
I kind of was hoping that Harry would die, and die properly. I didn’t necessarily want Voldy to win (okay, maybe a little bit) but I’m not a huge Harry fan. I would have enjoyed seeing the others beat Voldy.
I was satisfied with the couples too. No issues for me… I would have liked Luna and Neville together though. Would have been happy with Neville and Ginny being together and Harry and Luna. Either would have worked for me!
16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
My last post discusses this- I don’t think I need to say anymore on this subject =)
I tag ERRYBODY!
